Project Details

The key task of integrating the two systems, Pipedrive and CloudTalk, was to synchronise the deal stages in Pipedrive with the corresponding deal names in the Tags field in CloudTalk contacts when adding and editing Deals in Pipedrive.

The result of the integration is the correct synchronisation of contacts between CloudTalk and deals in Pipedrive. When you create a deal or change its stage (Lead, Abandoned, V1, V2) in Pipedrive, the value of the Tags field list in CloudTalk should change to the corresponding one (Lead, Abandoned, V1, V2). That is, if you create a deal in Pipedrive and immediately specify a stage or a default stage, the value in the corresponding contact in CloudTalk should immediately change to the same as the stage name: Lead->Lead, Abandone->Abandone, V1->V1, V2->V2. And it should work the same way for stage changes (i.e., the trigger is editing a deal).

When evaluating the task, it was assumed that this integration would be done using Zapier. But in the end, it did not meet the client's expectations, because when the stage was changed, the contact name changed in the form "[Abandoned] First Name Last Name of the contact" in Pipedrive and, accordingly, this name was further transferred to CloudTalk.

After presenting this integration and receiving feedback, it turned out that this type of exchange was not suitable for the client, because he planned to use the Tags field to segment customers in CloudTalk for further activities (mailings, calls, etc.).

In response, we prepared another offer for the client, namely API integration between Pipedrive and CloudTalk and implemented it in the way the client needed. That is, when creating a deal and editing it in Pipedrive, the integration was triggered, and the corresponding contact in CloudTalk (verification by email) changed the value of the Tags field to the same value as the name of the deal stage.

Below is a screenshot of the customer pipeline with the stages Lead, Abandoned, V1, V2. And the deal for the example "Testing Users lead" at the V1 stage.

After switching to our test transaction, we move it back to the stage for demonstration, i.e. to the Abandoned stage.

Next, we go to CloudTalk, find our test contact and open it to see that our Tags field is set to Abandoned, which is the same as the deal stage associated with the same contact in Pipedrive.

Next, for verification, let's move this deal to another stage, namely the "Lead" stage.

Going to the same contact in CloudTalk and refreshing the page, we see that the Tags field has changed its value to another one, similar to the stage of the deal, i.e. the value "Lead".
